Steve 'n' Seagulls Freestyler & The Dark Side Of The Moo Tour is coming to Oulu!

Finnish newgrass band Steve’n’Seagulls will release a new video on 21 May. Recorded entirely live in both sound and image, their version of Bomfunk MC’s “Freestyler” suitably twists the listener’s brain into a knot where a repair shop, wind instruments, dancers and banjo-driven accordion music all come together.

“Freestyler was a real Finnish sledgehammer at the turn of the millennium, and Bomfunk MC’s were among the first Finnish bands in their genre to gain widespread international recognition. Perhaps that is something we have in common,” says singer-guitarist Remmel.

“It was a fun find, and the riff works surprisingly well on the banjo. The original song has no actual vocal melody, which added an interesting challenge to the arrangement. The video and its soundtrack were recorded as one continuous live take with a couple of microphones and a single camera. The additional musicians and dancers bring a pleasant breath of fresh air to the recording compared with the album version,” says the band’s singing banjo player Herman.

Steve’n’Seagulls will be on an extensive European tour through the end of 2026, named after their new album, The Dark Side Of The Moo.
